Online mapping provider Multimap announced on Tuesday (13 February) the implementation of the new release of its API service (Application Programming Interface v.1.2) for the website of Active Hotels, a provider of confirmed online reservations to the European hotel industry, at the Travel Technology Show in London, UK, on 13-14 February, 2007.

According to the company, the implementation of the latest version of the service is expected to increase customer interaction with the site, http://www.allukhotels.com, increase customer loyalty, and increase the ratio of lookers to bookers. Multimap's API represents a major advance in location-based services, and significantly enhances the end user's experience, said the managing director of Active Hotels.

Multimap's API version 1.2 is said to feature: draggable maps with 'fast fill' smooth zooming; a suite of widgets; custom menus, map interactions and events; choice of map types and styles; choice of search modes, including search by radius, location ID, bounding box, donut and driving distance, search along route and non-spatial search; custom result ordering, pagination and display; fuzzy searching; point-to-point, multiple via points and 'travelling salesman' routing; multi-language directions; multi-modal routing; choice of outputs; as well as single point of access to Multimap's geocoding capability.
